Did you do this?

Do you think it’s true that people sabotage themselves? This sounds crazy. Why would we actually do this?

Of course, we don’t sabotage ourselves on purpose. We don’t even know we’re doing it. Yet, we do it every day. How you may be wondering? By taking actions we know will get us results we don’t want and by not taking the actions we know will get us the results we do want. Crazy.

Are you doing this now? In some areas of your life; yes, I bet you are. We’ve heard about why we don’t take actions we know will bring us closer to our desired results. These reasons include:
Fear of being judged by others
Fear of not being liked
Fear of losing security
Fear of being seen as a fake or fraud
Fear of not being good enough yet – need to be more polished, take more classes, etc.
Comparing yourself to others – you’ll never measure up when you do this.
Too busy – creating chaos in your life instead of the lifestyle you desire.

On the other hand, why do we take action that we know will sabotage our desired results? These are the same results we pray to achieve. We say we really want more clients, more success, _____________ (fill in the blank). And yet, we do the craziest things that kill our results. Some of these include:
Playing computer games, watching TV, hiking in the middle of the day instead of making calls to potential clients.
Calling clients when you know they won’t be available, such as lunch-time .
Not showing up for appointments or showing up late for appointments.
Not dressing successfully.
Not doing your homework on the potential client before your meeting – finding out what their needs are and if you can help them meet those needs. If not, maybe you know someone who can help them. Remember, your purpose is to help them – not sell them.
Holding back information you know would be helpful for your prospect or client.

Most often, you’re not even aware you’re doing this crazy sabotaging behavior. It shows up in your results. Results never lie.

Where does this sabotaging behavior come from? The answer is your subconscious mind. The subconscious mind is the store-house of the mind. It’s where we store memories, conditioned beliefs, habits and our self-image. To change your results, you must change your behavior. If you want permanent change, you must change your paradigm.

Most people have no idea how to change their paradigm. We’re not taught this in school.
